A remarkable tunnel is being built right here in Ballard to deal with sewer overflows that are increasingly exceeding the city’s ability to cope with when heavy rains overwhelm our sewer and water drainage systems. Extending from Wallingford to Ballard, the nearly 3-mile long tunnel is a key component of the Ship Canal Water Quality Project.
